MD Smarter — Privacy Policy
In short: MD Smarter does not collect, store, sell or transmit any personal data. Everything you open, read, edit or export is processed locally in your browser. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server operated by us.
1. What MD Smarter does
MD Smarter is a browser extension for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox that lets you open Markdown files from your computer or from the web, read and edit them, and export them to Word (.docx) or PDF. This policy applies to all three versions.
2. Data we collect
None. We do not collect personal information, file contents, browsing history, usage statistics or crash reports. We do not use cookies, analytics or tracking tools, and we have no servers that receive your data.
3. How your files are handled
- Local files are read only after you choose them (file picker or drag & drop). Changes are written back only when you click Save or press Cmd/Ctrl+S, and only to the file you opened or chose. In Firefox, which does not allow add-ons to write to existing files, saving downloads a new copy instead.
- Online files are downloaded directly from the address you open (for example, raw.githubusercontent.com). The request goes from your browser straight to that website; it does not pass through us.
- Images referenced in a document are loaded from the websites that host them, just like in a normal web page.
- Exports (Word and PDF) are created entirely in your browser and saved to a location you choose.
Note: websites you open files or images from can see standard request information (such as your IP address), as with any web page you visit. Their own privacy policies apply.
4. Data stored on your device
MD Smarter uses the browser's built-in extension storage only for the following, and it never leaves your device:

You can remove all of it at any time by uninstalling the extension.
5. Permissions

6. Support page and third-party services
The "☕ Support" button opens a support page that is part of the extension. It offers two optional ways to donate:
- Buy Me a Coffee (buymeacoffee.com) — the button opens that website in a new tab. It is not operated by us and has its own privacy policy.
- Alipay — a QR code image that is included in the extension (it is not loaded from the internet). If you scan it, the payment happens entirely in the Alipay app, under Alipay's own privacy policy.
MD Smarter shares no data with either service and does not know whether you donated.
7. Children
MD Smarter is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

1. MD Smarter 是什么
MD Smarter 是一个适用于 Google Chrome、Microsoft Edge 和 Mozilla Firefox 的浏览器扩展，用于打开电脑或网络上的 Markdown 文件，阅读、编辑，并导出为 Word（.docx）或 PDF。本政策适用于以上三个版本。
2. 我们收集的数据
无。我们不收集个人信息、文件内容、浏览记录、使用统计或崩溃报告；不使用 Cookie、统计或追踪工具；也没有任何接收你数据的服务器。
3. 你的文件如何处理
- 本地文件：只有在你主动选择（文件选择器或拖拽）后才会读取；只有你点击"保存"或按 Cmd/Ctrl+S 时，才会写回你打开或选择的那个文件。Firefox 不允许扩展写入已有文件，因此在 Firefox 中保存会下载一份新文件。
- 在线文件：由你的浏览器直接从你打开的网址（例如 raw.githubusercontent.com）下载，不经过我们。
- 图片：文档中引用的图片从其所在网站加载，与普通网页相同。
- 导出：Word 和 PDF 完全在浏览器中生成，保存到你选择的位置。
注意：与访问任何网页一样，你打开文件或图片所在的网站可以看到常规的请求信息（如 IP 地址），适用这些网站自己的隐私政策。
4. 存储在你设备上的数据
MD Smarter 仅使用浏览器自带的扩展存储保存以下内容，这些数据不会离开你的设备：

卸载扩展即可随时删除以上全部数据。
5. 权限说明

6. 支持页面与第三方服务
"☕ 支持"按钮会打开扩展内置的支持页面，提供两种自愿打赏方式：
- Buy Me a Coffee（buymeacoffee.com）：点击按钮会在新标签页打开该网站。该网站不由我们运营，适用其自己的隐私政策。
- 支付宝：二维码图片随扩展一起提供（不从网络加载）。扫码后的支付完全在支付宝 App 中完成，适用支付宝的隐私政策。
MD Smarter 不与上述服务共享任何数据，也无从得知你是否打赏。
7. 儿童
MD Smarter 并非面向 13 岁以下儿童，也不会有意收集任何人的信息。
8. 政策变更
如本政策有变更，更新后的版本将发布在本页面，并注明新的生效日期。
